This instrument was Larry's favourite from about twenty unpainted yidaki that he had made. It is a very responsive instrument that has a clarity and edge that is very precise. It has an excellent playing pressure, responding well to both low pressure playing and high pressure playing. When played with high pressure it produces a coarse acoustic texture that I really like. Overall the acoustics are bright and clear whilst retaining good depth and bass frequencies. The bore is mostly natural however I did some additional work on the mouthpiece to make it extra comfortable, which can be seen in the pictures below. It is made from gadayka (eucalyptus tetrodonta) and Larry has left it unpainted, which is often testament to yidaki that play very well.
